The prime function of SM811, is to provide intelligent supervision of a controller during non-SIL and SIL1-2 operations, and together with a PM865 form a 1oo2 diverse structure for SIL3 applications.For high availability applications it is possible to have redundant SM811´s that work together with any of the two redundant CPUs. SM811 has a dedicated synchronization link to synchronize active and redundant SM for hot-insert and online upgrade. It is needed during hot-insert and online upgrade situations to copy data between two SM811s in a redundant setup.

This high-integrity module is certified for $IL3. It requires configuration according to the Safety Manual. It connects to the CEX bus after the BC810 CEX bus interconnection box.

S800 I/O is a distributed and modular I/O system that communicates with controllers over PROFIBUS-DP/DPV1 or direct (via Modulebus). The S800 I/O system is DIN rail mounted and consists of Fieldbus Communication Interfaces, Modulebus Modems, S800 I/O modules and Module Termination Units (MTU). S800 I/O modules (not S800L) are mounted on MTU's, this makes them hot-swappable. Depended on the mounting requirement (horizontal or vertical) and on the field termination needs (powering, fusing etc.) there are numerous of MTU's to choose from.
