Description:

 

S800 I/O is a comprehensive, distributed and modular process I/O system that communicates with parent controllers and PLCs over industry-standard field buses. The TB840 ModuleBus Modem is a fiber optic interface to the Optical ModuleBus. TB840A is used in redundancy configurations where each module is connected to different optical ModuleBus lines, but connected to the same electrical ModuleBus.

 

The TB840 ModuleBus Modem is a fiber optic interface for the 0ptical ModuleBus, designed for use with the S800 1/0 system. It supports both electrical and optical ModuleBus interfaces, allowing for robust and redundant connectivity. The ModuleBus Modem has an electrical and an optical Modulebus interface which are logically the same bus. A maximum of 12 I/O modules can be connected to the electrical ModuleBus and up to seven clusters can be connected to the fiber optic ModuleBus. The fiber optic interface is intended for local distribution of I/O clusters and where more than 12 I/O modules are required in an I/O station.

 

The ABB TB840A is a ModuleBus Cluster Modem designed for high-reliability applications. It connects to the Optical ModuleBus via fiber optics and supports redundancy configurations. Each module links to different optical ModuleBus lines while sharing the same electrical ModuleBus. The TB840A supports 1+1 redundant operation. The Sync Enable command becomes disabled when the generator breaker closes, however, it may re-enabled again to allow the DSLC to perform tie breaker synchronizations. To re-enable this input the ‘Sync Enable’ contact must be opened and re-closed. Typically a double pole single throw (DPST) switch is used on a site’s synchronizer control panel to select automatic synchronizing by enabling both the DSLC sync mode and 505E analog input at the same time.
