The 1734-OB8 is a POINT I/O discrete output module that features a high-density number of output channels, having Eight (8) sourcing output channels. POINT I/O product family are compact and cost-effective module for implementing distributed or remote I/O architecture. For POINT I/O systems, an 8-Channel module is considered high-density module. The 1734-OB8 has Eight (8) output channels in a single group. It is designed to operate at a Voltage range of 10.0 to 28.8VDC with nominal output voltage of 24VDC. The continuous output current the channels can provide are 1.0 A per output, not to exceed 3.0 A max per module. The modules minimum ON state voltage signal is 10VDC while the maximum ON state voltage is 28.8VDC. The module has an internal surge current protection with rating 2 A for 10 ms which is repeatable for every 3s. The module is an 8-bit module. Each bit of the module represents the output channels. This register is being accessed by the controller to read and write data as well as used as the link for integration to Human Machine Interface (HMI), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and Distributed Control Systems (DCS). The module is capable of detecting short circuit connection, on every channel as well as wire-off or open loop detection. The module provides an alarm indication relative to the event which may be seen locally or via the controller using diagnostic buffer. This may also be integrated in computer based control systems for remote and centralized monitoring of the POINT I/O module and systems. The short-circuit and wire-off conditions are Module status alarm which also includes an improperly configured discrete output module. Not only module status but the module also includes a network status LED for indication of the moduleÕs network connectivity such is if the module has an active connection or if the connection has failed. Each channel of the 1734-OB8 are also provided with dedicated LED indicator which display Yellow when the channel is energized and none if the channel is inactive. Use RSLogix 5000 or Studio 5000 Logix designer to configure the module and access online parameters including module general properties, inhibition, reaction to controller fault when in run mode, online diagnostics among others. The mentioned software packages are installed to a Microsoft Windows workstation with compatibilities from Windows XP to Windows 10 operating systems. These software packages support online and offline development of logic as well as loaded with commissioning tools such as I/O forcing, memory bit forcing, hardware configuration, controller mode change, system backup and many other programming related tools and commands. The 1734-OB8 may be used to energize Final Control Elements (FCE) such as motor and solenoid actuated devices, relays and similar ON/OFF devices. It may also be used in lighting system or indicating devices such as pilot lamps and annunciator panels. It may also be used to trigger sounding devices such as buzzer, horn, siren and strobe light and similar notifying devices. These devices may be triggered manually or automatically, depending on the designed logic.
