ICS Triplex, a Rockwell Automation brand, has launched the T8461, a 40-channel Triple Modular Redundant (TMR) digital output module for its Trusted T8000 series. Designed for safety-critical applications, this SIL 3-certified module delivers high-density, fault-tolerant control for oil and gas, power generation, petrochemicals, and pharmaceuticals, where reliable on/off control of valves, solenoids, and motor starters is essential.
At its core, the T8461 adopts 2oo3 TMR architecture with fully triplicated circuits, eliminating single points of failure. Each of the 40 isolated channels supports 24V DC or 48V DC outputs, with a continuous current rating of 0.75A per channel (6A per power group). The module operates on a 20–32V DC system supply, withstanding field voltages from 18–60V DC and offering 2500V DC galvanic isolation to protect against voltage surges and EMI.
Engineered for precision and reliability, the T8461 features a 0.5ms output on/off delay and 1ms resolution Sequence of Events (SOE) reporting with ±0.5ms timestamp accuracy for precise fault tracing. Comprehensive self-diagnostics monitor for open/short circuits, overcurrent, and overtemperature, with LED indicators for at-a-glance status. Each channel includes automatic overcurrent protection, removing the need for external fuses.
The module’s rugged design supports operation across -40°C to 70°C (5%–95% non-condensing humidity), with a compact form factor (266×31×303mm, 1.285kg) for DIN-rail mounting. Hot-swap capability enables online replacement without system shutdown, minimizing downtime. It integrates seamlessly with Modbus TCP/IP and EtherNet/IP protocols, compatible with existing ICS Triplex chassis and DCS/SIS frameworks.
